UUID v4 format
A UUID is a 128-bit identifier written as 36 characters: 32 lowercase hexadecimal digits grouped 8-4-4-4-12 with hyphens. Version 4 reserves bits for the version and RFC-compatible variant; the remaining bits come from cryptographically secure randomness.

Common uses
UUIDs can label test fixtures, identify resources in development systems, or seed development data. A random UUID is not a password or secret token. Random generation makes collisions unlikely, but does not prove uniqueness across every system or database.
